What this specification changes about the package

  • Set texts are named per examination year, not per syllabus version. A package must be ordered against an examination year. The same code means different books in 2028, 2029 and 2030
  • Every candidate takes Paper 1 plus either Paper 2 or Component 3 Coursework. Two product routes per package, an examination route and a coursework route, sharing the Paper 1 material
  • A coursework route worth half the qualification is available, unlike GCSE English Literature in England. Comparative coursework support is a product category the domestic catalogue has no equivalent for
  • Both written papers are open text: annotated set texts may be taken into the exam room. Revision products teach navigation and annotation of the text, not memorised quotation
  • All four objectives are tested holistically in every question, at 25 per cent each. No product may teach an objective in isolation or claim an objective specific question type
  • From 2028 only one of the five drama choices is a Shakespeare play. Shakespeare material cannot carry the drama offer; the modern and contemporary plays are the volume
  • Coursework texts must not repeat a text studied for Paper 1, and one must be drama. Coursework packages are built around text pairings, and must be checked against the candidate's Paper 1 choice

The 2027 syllabus, Version 2, remains live for the 2027 series and carries a different assessment model
Grading variant
0475 grades A* to G; 0992 grades 9 to 1. Tested by sentence level diff at 97.38 per cent identical. Assessment structure, marks, weightings, objectives and set texts are identical across the two codes.
Set texts held
23 texts, each with a rights status derived from the author's death date. The board states none of them.

What this map does not hold

  • copyright statuses. DERIVED BY PLATFORM, NOT BOARD STATED
  • entry codes. NOT BOARD STATED in the syllabus; component entry codes sit in the Guide to Making Entries
  • ao mark split. NOT BOARD STATED at question level. The board gives each objective 25 per cent of each component and marks holistically, so no per question split exists to record

Decisions taken

  • Its own catalogue entry, pointing at this map. 0992 gets its own storefront listing and its own order path. The mapping is unchanged: the two codes were proved near identical by sentence level diff and remain one map with two grading variants
